Surfing Holidays
Cocos Keeling Islands

Last year Michelle took me on a holiday (my first real holiday for many, many years) to surf at Cocos Keeling Islands,an outpost of Australia in the middle of the Indian Ocean. When we arrived there, we immediately rode out on our hire bikes (boards under arms) to the one and only surf break, the Surf Shack (Named after the hut built by the local surfers to keep their boards in), to check the surf out. It was absolutely huge and we wondered what we had let ourselves in for as this was the first time we had surfed a reef break. So it was with great trepidation that we eventually summoned up the courage to enter the water once the swell had settled down in the next day or so. We both grew hugely as surfers from the experience and had some great sessions on great waves
like this one at sunset.
